This is the Organic Colombia Fondo Paez brought to you by Kickapoo Coffee Roasters. This fully washed coffee was grown by the various small holder producers in the Cauca region of Colombia between 1,300 - 1,900 meters above sea level. The cup is aromatic and balanced with rich caramel notes that linger throughout, and dark fruit notes that add a wonderful complexity.
I loved this! I don't know about the fruit notes, but I definitely got the caramel. A+.
Very rich and tasty
This is what I would be looking for in a medium to light roast coffee for sure! Although I am not overly fond of the earthy, nut-like aromas, the taste takes a quick turn into what I do like about coffee. Not over-powering, nor too nutty. As I'm just beginning my true coffee tasting journey, I can't quite pick out the fruits, but there is a touch of the caramel that I enjoy as well.
Good, but not anything special. I do love the single origin.
Good, but not my favorite style. A little heavy on the fruit & floral and acidity. As another reviewer noted, it's a good and interesting cup, just not one I want every morning.
Strong bright aroma livens up my morning on often gray and raining days. Taste is complex citrus, caramel and cherry blend well into a fine cup.
This was a wonderful start to my subscription! I enjoyed the complexity of the flavor. Starts out with an earthy flavor then finishes with the fruit notes. Looking forward to my next bag.
little too fruity for my taste. Falls more into the blonde category.
I like a little stronger coffee.
I liked this coffee but the roast was a little light for me and I found it too be a little too floral or fruity.
Very good coffee. For my taste it was a little on the lighter side, maybe slightly acidic, but just barely. Very good cup of coffee. I would be interested in seeing what a slightly more robust, without getting too much of a dark roast, would be.
I really like the flavor profile of this one. It has a nice caramel base, with hints of fruit throughout with a clean finish.
Loved this coffee.
Great flavors - the fruit flavors are prominent, and there is a bit of caramel and butter at the end.
I definitely get the cherry notes. like dried cherries. Just made this baby into a cold brew: those flavors come through pretty well. sorry for the nondescript review. I love coffee, and while i was only wowed by the tart cherry finishing notes, I don't know if i would order this one again (just a preference - i recommend for coffee exploration)
This coffee is excellent - I love the sweet, fruity notes. It has a lot of flavor, while being quite light and easily drinkable.
I enjoyed this coffee. I was a bit more balanced, for my tastes, than the previous one. I didn't find this coffee bitter but it did have a slight more acidity (brightness?) that I was looking for previously. I found the roast level in the range which I usually enjoy,
Nice fruity sweetness at the beginning that mellows out smoothly towards the end.
It was a very smooth coffee. The cherry and hibiscus notes were more subtle than I expected, but that is not a bad thing. Still trying to perfect my aeropress brewing, so I'm sure that was part of it.
Pour over = 22g coffee beans to 360 water [200d]
Roast of beans = Good
- Black: Smooth
- w/ Cream: Rich
This was a very good coffee, but not an everyday one. When I first tried it, I really enjoyed the dark fruit and strong, strong hibiscus notes. However, it's not a coffee Iike drinking morning after morning-- more of an every now and then coffee for some interesting flavor notes. I'm going to try making cold brew with it to see how that comes out.
Loved all the notes for this coffee!

This coffee is fabulous! The beans are very aromatic and even better when brewed it still carries the same smell. It is a well balanced cup with the right hints of fruit and sweet caramel.
There's a fruity, lingering bitterness, with dark chocolate notes, when black, although no sourness. With milk it is quite sweet with a cocoa/caramel taste.
Thanks! This is a great bag of coffee! I definitely get the caramel and dark-fruit notes. I really loved this coffee. I'm working on learning how to describe what I like and don't like about coffee, but I'm not quite there yet. The one thing I don't love about this coffee is that it is a little bit tart, but I think that is probably the grind size I am using with my Kalita Wave, and not the coffee beans themselves. I keep transitioning the grind size to be finer and finer, and I'm sure I'll get to the right one soon.
WAY TOO MANY OTHER FLAVORS. I'm a traditional coffee kind of guy, don't like all these exotic flavors.
JJ and Laura
Had an acidic/sour bite to it that is in some coffees
It was good, but I think it was a little light or fruity for me. I liked the way the beans smelled when I ground them, but in the cup I struggled to find the balance. It was either too light or too bitter. The finish is almost a bit sour to me. I usually gravitate toward a dark roast or a medium that's really smooth, nutty, buttery or chocolatey so it's not a bad coffee, just not what I'm used to. I'm still enjoying but looking forward to what may come next!
I am a newbie to coffee and I have recently started drinking all black without sugar. And so now I'm a big fan of an au naturel coffee. I first started with the coffee blends and never had a single origin coffee before because I thought I wont get the full body from it(so as I heard and maybe still doesn't know what I'm talking about), but when I tried the single origin coffee of this brand I don't think I'll go back trying the coffee blends. It maybe just the taste of this coffee makes me like it so much. In my opinion this is a really good coffee, as I'm still learning about coffees and their unique tastes I'll be keeping myself exploring for more.
--Brewed in french press.
--Coffee Ration 1:16
-- Steep Time 4 mintues
good flavor. I like this coffee a lot. I do get a slight sour flavor at the after taste of a sip but that may be due to my brewing and not a characteristic of the coffee.
Loved the smooth / balanced nature of this coffee
Red fruit almost like a cranberry really nice body on this one. After taste was dark fruit for sure
it was good, a little to light for my taste
it tasted like tea, which don't get me wrong i love tea
but i think if has a little bit of a stronger, it be better
sorry for the horrible english :p O ps. got a new espresso maker
A little on the lighter side. Not too acidic which I like. Overall, good first choice.
Actually pretty good coffee and nice flavor. When I used my typical amount of coffee the taste was a little bland / unflavored. But adding an extra scoop of coffee did the trick. Much better
Loved the aroma and flavors. Makes a very special cup of morning coffee. This was a great introduction to Mistobox. Thank you!
I enjoyed this coffee for the caramel notes coming through. Was a little on the fruity side but still very good. Would probably be great for iced coffee in the summer.
The cherry and darker fruit really comes through, especially when brewed as espresso.
Can definitely taste the fruit and chocolate/caramel flavors. Big fan of the caramel flavor in the coffee, fruit/tang not so much. Overall, thought it was a good full bodied and rich flavor and every sip was better than any other normal coffee you'd get on a regular basis. Would like to try something without as much fruitiness to it. All in all, a great pick!
I picked up different notes than the description but it was still a great coffee.
Smelled so good. Oily, but not too much. Loved the fruity notes.
The dark notes in this coffee make my mouth feel like I woke up the night after smoking a cigar and not brushing my teeth.
It was clean and tasted better as it cooled. Not my favorite but it is growing on me. Tasted a little strong at the beginning.
I enjoyed having coffee from a different part of Colombia than I have visited. I still liked the Ethiopia Sidama Ardí the best.
This was the best coffee we've had yet. The flavor was prefect and not too heavy. It was gone in a flash!
Experimenting with the amount of beans gave a light brew that tasted like overly steeped tea and a dark brew that was overwhelmingly tart. A normal brew still had the tartness, but also the "dark-fruit" described above, but I can't nail down a exact type. I enjoyed this coffee, but the missus found it disappointing.
Enjoyed this one! Thank you!
Didn't care for the hibiscus very much, but overall pretty decent taste.
This was amazing, I loved the variety of flavors and it seemed to have a medium-dark feel as opposed to being too dark.
Hello! This coffee was a little light and needed a more coffee taste. As I said earlier, I am used to Cafe Britt Costa Rica. I am in favor of a plain coffee, I am not looking for a flavored coffee, just good black coffee, but no too strong, either.
I look forward to your next choice. I hope i have put this in the right area.
It was good, but not as oily (if that's an appropriate adjective) as I would have liked it. I'd be interested in not having those "dark notes" in my next bag.
We liked this coffee a lot—good flavor, good body—and we both felt like we could discern the fruit notes in it. Sometimes it tasted more bitter or acidic than we like and wished it was a little more mellow, but that could be due to brewing errors.
I believe that I had mentioned previously that I do NOT like any type of flavored coffee. The caramel notes makes this coffee undrinkable to me as I absolutely do NOT enjoy caramel.
How do I go about returning this coffee and/or getting a different shipment at no charge?
I absolutely do NOT like any flavorings in my coffee with lighter roasts being my preferred.
Please let me know how to proceed.
Love this coffee. The dark fruit comes through with some earthier tones as well. It's a smooth great cup to drink especially first thing in the morning.
Loved this - the flavors were great and bold. Thank you!

Let's start with the obvious.. Kickapoo.. great name! makes me chuckle. Then there's the very cool sticker that came with it (we are decorating out freezer with stickers, great addition). Then there is the aroma when I opened the box.. omg what a smell! Lastly, the taste is what brings it all home. Smooth chocolate notes, nutty taste, and bold fruity complexity. Love this one! Long live the poo!
Good solid coffee. Caramel / spiced nuts is strong. Beans have a strong nutty /cinnamon aroma. Slight citrus / fruit taste. I'd prefer a coffee that's a little darker / heavier /smoother in the cup. Overall a solid coffee. Thanks Samantha!
Didn't like this one quite as much as the first coffee. A little sour and darker tasting than we'd prefer.
I liked it. I brewed it with a Kalita Wave which really helped bring out the fruity notes from the coffee. It was very smooth until the tart cherry really hit you at then end. It lingered, but it wasn't too overwhelming. I am looking forward to trying it with a Hario as well and see the difference. Otherwise, I highly recommend this coffee and roaster. I definitely want to try more from them in the near future.
Coffee has nice flavor but has a lighter flavor profile than I'd like. If I had to choose between the two, I liked the Mexico Sicobi better.
This is my favorite coffee yet! I love how smooth it is, and I enjoy the rich dark roast with the caramel flavor notes. I would like more coffees like this one.
I really liked the dark fruit flavors in this coffee. It made for a very smooth cup and was very easy to drink. The caramel worked in a nice harmony with the fruit notes, but I wish it had been slightly more detectable. Coffees of this richness or perhaps a bit richer with more chocolaty notes would be wonderful contenders for my upcoming shipment! Thanks Seth! My mornings have gotten way better with MistoBox!
Loved this style of coffee. Love the fruity complex flavor and is a joy right out of the Chemex.
We enjoyed this coffee, however the lasting caramel flavor was a little stronger than we would have liked. The body was nice and again, we generally did enjoy this coffee.
This was pretty good coffee! A little light for my preference, but the fruit notes shined through! Great coffee for a afternoon caffeine boost!
A bit mild for my taste. Didn't really pick up on the caramel, or "dark fruit notes" this definitely seems like a citrus forward coffee, as the lemon/lime acidity is prominent.
I'm more partial to bold full bodied, earthy, nutty profiles.
Fruity coffee. It was a little fuller than I expected, especially for such a light coffee. The flavors were very prominent and left a complex mouthfeel.
I really like the darker and caramel notes of this coffee, but even after experimenting with my extraction temperature and times, it was a little more acidic than I prefer. I think I lean toward darker roasts.
this is a bit too light and fruity for my preferences. I made it using press, pour over, and drip but flavor was consistently fruity. it was nice to try something different but I preferred the previous coffee more.
A little too light and mild for my tastes. But it is a very good coffee (if you like light and mild). No bitterness or sour.
I find it a bit more bitter and not as robust as I like. A bit thin.
description is spot on. very good coffee.
I really liked this single origin bean. I like how mellow it was and not too acidic.
Perhaps on the lighter side of my preference, but overall a very good coffee. Not the least bit disappointed! :)
The coffee was not bad, but it was a little too fruity for my tastes. I prefer more of a "coffee" flavor, if that makes sense
Too light, and too bitter for my taste. I was excited for the dark fruit and caramel notes, but was just too light for my liking.
Absolutely loved the subtle fruit flavors in this one. A mild citrus tone with a smooth and sweet finish. It was on the lighter side of the blend and lost a little flavor with the rich breakfast I had. Would have been perfect with a croissant or oatmeal. Overall a wonderful blend for a medium roast kind of coffee lover.
I like how balanced this coffee is!
This coffee was very good. Super complex and stimulating. I would have liked more caramel to balance, but intensely fruity as advertised. Dark plum indeed
Mike & Ellen
Beautiful color. Smooth and flavorful. Definitely can taste the fruit notes.
Not an everyday coffee. Which isn't a bad thing. I do taste the caramel and fruit notes. It has a clean finish unless you don't brew it properly
Best I've had yet... we're getting closer to that perfect cup
Excellent coffee. I love the caramel and dark fruit components. I also like the slightly toasted, nutty or popcorn flavor it has. The aroma is amazing!
I enjoyed the Kickapoo Organic Colombia Fondo Paez very much. The caramel richness is definitely apparent. Aroma is great. Good coffee.
A little too light and bit fruitier than I prefer. I like earthier notes and a more medium to medium/dark roast.
Enjoyed this one, nothing special with it but it was good.
This is a smooth coffee that I enjoyed, especially the hint of Carmel, but ranked with the first one I still prefer the first.
Even better than the last coffee. Not acidic, but with a slightly stronger coffee taste.
It just keeps getting better and better with every MistoBox order.
dark fruit? Maybe so, but I seem to recall saying we do not like fruity coffee. This coffee probably falls on the opposite side of our taste pallet. Perhaps 'complex' is too generic a term - many people/things want to be thought of as complex.. Can you tell me what the opposite of complex would be - what taste and what coffees. Honestly, I would like to learn from some examples here so I can better communicate our likes.
Thanks again, please do not send anything like Kickapoo again.
Light coffee with a distinct tang that lingers. I enjoyed the lightness but would prefer less tang.
Very rich and delicious!
The aroma is delightful, and the coffee is smooth. I found it, especially with pour over, to be a little (to borrow a word from wine tasting) dry. My favorite way to prepare it is with french press, which kept the oil in play. After altering temperature and strength, I feel that I never quite found the sweet spot for the brew.
This is a lighter roast than I'm used to drinking but still has nice, fruity notes. I found it to be an interesting flavor and works well without cream or sugar. It's different than I typically buy so I have been enjoying trying something new.
The flavor is amazing I just wish it was a bit stronger.
Really tasty coffee, I like the fruity taste as well as how it doesn't taste too acidic.
James + Laura
Too light and fruity.
This one's a great fit for brewing with a Hario v60 or other pour-over apparatus. The notes of fruit (I sense a little bit of mango along with the caramel mentioned in the description).
Rich, bold, complex
To acidic for my taste
I like a variety of coffee blends, but for some reason Colombian coffee is not my favorite. It is a decent coffee, but it has a very typical Colombian flavor.
nice plum/fruit notes; a little too fruit-forward for my tastes though
This has to be one of my favorite coffees so far. I'll admit that I was a bit unsure when I first saw that I was having a coffee from Colombia being sent my way as i've typically found Colombian coffees to be be overly bitter and highly acidic. But this one took me by surprise. The notes written in the coffees description of complexity, caramel and dark fruit are spot. This is the perfect coffee for both the morning and the late afternoon cup. The smell is simply amazing and gives off a fruity and smooth scent. Great choice Mistobox!
Very good, especially in the Chemex. Had a nice subtle rich fruit flavor and had a more nuanced flavor than either the Equator Mocha Java or The La Colombe varieties tasted so far.
Good, nearly great.
I love this. My favorite one so far.
Very clean, with the perfect amount of acidity.
This coffee leaves a bitter aftertaste on the sides of my tongue. I struggle getting to the bottom of the cup.
this is a very easy-to-drink coffee. However, I would like something stronger, maybe a little bitter, more mocha, and less acidic
Really smooth and balanced flavors. Great stuff. I would really love to see some Ethiopian coffees come in. Those are by far my favorite.
Too fruity for me
A little too mellow. Want richer, darker flavor. Tastes acidic and unfortunately somewhat like beef consomme (?)
very difficult to get the same cup of coffee two times in a row.
By far the best coffee I have received so far. An excellent balance of sweetness and body. Will definitely be ordering more
One of our favorites thus far!
Very good. Went through it in record time!
Nice balance. Both my boyfriend and I really enjoyed it.
Smooth and low-acidic. A slight hint of sweetness in the end. An excellent cup to enjoy in the evenings.
If you brew it right this coffee can be quite good, but it's sort of inconsistent. I use a chemex, and slight variations affect the taste of the coffee a lot.
This stuff is amazing. Very flavorful but not overwhelming.
One of my favorite cups of coffee ever so far! Super smooth, loved the sweet caramelly scent. These beans were awesome!
