The Sumatra was carefully roasted for you by Dillanos Coffee Roasters. This blend of varieties, which includes Typica, Catimor, and others, acquires its distinct body and taste from a unique "wet hulling" method, a variation of the traditional semi-washed process. This coffee was sourced from the coffee growing region of Aceh in Sumatra. This cup is fantastically full bodied, with earthy and herbal notes.
As the description says "full bodied" without acidity. First cup today, great choice to start my gift subscription.
I liked this coffee. I still like the Anodyne Honduras blend the best so far. Maybe a little to earthy?
Wow - this coffee has a terrible/bitter aftertaste when used for an espresso drink.
Surprised at how bad it is. After a few drinks, we threw it out.
Upon opening the bag of Sumatra I was pleasantly surprised by the full bodied aroma and earthyness of this roast. The smell of the fresh ground beans only tempted me more. The best was yet to come as I tasted my first cup of this delicious blend. Definitely worth moving up to top notch on my coffee shelf at anytime of the day.
Was so much better than I thought when I saw it was "Sumatra"...glad to know not all Sumatras are the same. Smooth not bitter, no aftertaste. really like it!
I love how full bodied this coffee is. There are definitely some rich earthy cacao flavors, which i truly enjoyed.
Conner! Thanks for the email reminder. I had to go make myself a cup so I could give a good reply. And I just had a cup of my favorite Unique Sumatra this morning, so it's still fresh in my mind. The Dillion is very, very good. I'd actually rate it a 4.7. Comparing it to the Unique, it lacks a bit of depth and complexity, but is very close. It holds the flavor well. (Lol, it's good cold when I take it to work and forget to drink it till it's cold). It's not bitter and has a nicely full flavor. I like it!
Excellent. Very flavorful
Good flavor, could be stronger, darker... (Beans look okay but flavor is still lighter than my normal preferences and thus I add more beans and longer in French press. I like strong, dark.)
Tastes great once I made it properly
Larry and Kay
This is morning two with the Sumatra blend and after adjusting the grind and amount of coffee for a little stronger brew my wife and I will do a little more adjusting to obtain a stronger cup of coffee, The aroma and overall taste is very pleasing. Just needs to be a bit stronger.
I really enjoyed this. It has a chocolaty nose and a tobacco finish.
The coffee tastes too musky.
Rich and Kathy
I liked this the most, while Kathy thought the Black and Tan was the best.
A little too roasty for my personal tastes, although it made a very nice latte one morning.
This coffee was rich and bold. It tends to be more bitter than the Italian roast.. I usually prefer something a bit less bitter, but it really depends on the day. There are times when this one hits the spot. Both good choices.
Roasty, toasty, and rich
Perfect cup of rich dark/medium dark roast. Wonderful fragrance and taste, nice body.
A delicious coffee, yet somehow still tastes a tad light to me. I like the flavours, but it seems to be missing that 5th star's worth of depth...
Kevin & Eunice
Excellent full bodied cup of coffee.
Chris and Lew
Good flavor, but a bit too heavily roasted for my tastes.
Really enjoyed this coffee. Has a very noticeable chocolate bittersweet finish.
Tasted burnt, like charcoal
Great. Dark, balanced, smooth.
Pulls a great shot. Complexity that I enjoy. Didn't care for the after taste. Nice change of pace though. Gave it's flavors off with a punch in the face so to speak.
It wasn't as smooth as I had hoped
I prefer to drink my coffee black - to get the full flavor out of the bean. Almost as good as a Kenyan coffee I once had which is my preference.
Scott & Margaux
Aromatic, strong flavor. Good brew
nice and smooth enoughlittle bitter at the end.
Coffee was alright, too much of a dark roast for me. How do i change my flavor profile? I'm coming to realize that I may like more medium bodied roasts ;)
Hell Connor,This Sumatra coffee was okay. The beans were very oily in comparison to some other coffees I've had. I'm not sure if that is due to the bag or the type of bean but just something I noticed. The taste of the coffee over all was just okay. Perhaps I could try something at the different ends of the spectrum of with less earthy notes and more flavors. I am interesting in trying anything else you might suggest. Please let me know if there is any additional information you may need. Just so you know I am using an Aeropress for my brewing with a Baratza Preciso grinder.Thank you,David
Just above neutral on this one. It was decent but not a lot of flavor. It was good but not great. Not as bold as I like.
Beans have a nice aroma, but does not translate into any depth or complexity of the coffee itself.
This is a fantastic coffee. It has a full bodied, robust flavor that goes down extremely smooth. I've enjoyed most of the MistoBox coffees, but this one is hands down my favorite thus far. I hope they carry it in Decaf.
I really enjoyed the full body and earthy tones of this coffee. The only reason I did not give it a 5 is because I felt like it could have more of a flavor profile, but because this is my first coffee (compared to the junk I was drinking previously) I do not have a good baseline to compare it to. I can imagine upgrading this to 5 stars after trying more coffees!
Although medium-dark roasts are rarely in my cup, this bean provided an acceptable dosage of caffeine, and it was drinkable when I lightened it up with milk. As a brewer of lightly roasted beans, only an exceptional cup of a medium-dark roast could get a third star.
Okay, I admit it...I was prepared not to like this one because I am not always a fan of Sumatra. However, Seth, my coffee curator, seemed to "get me" with this pick. The beans are almost black in color with a slight oily sheen. I smelled notes of smoke, chocolate and earth as I brewed my first cup. I really needed a coffee to wake me up today and the deep, smoky flavor did the trick. I've had several Sumatras that were not well balanced, but this was awesome. I don't know what the people at Dillanos are doing, but they always seem to get it right. Thanks, Seth!
Smooth and wel balanced
Nice aroma, good flavor. A little on the bold side for my taste.I prefer lighter roasts
I enjoyed this coffee - Sumatra is my "go to" coffee. I would like to try different coffees though for the sake of variety (I was shipped two bags of this one and didn't realize if I didn't provide feedback that is what would happen - or am I mistaken).
Excellent deep flavor.

rich and delicious
Dana & AJ
We love this coffee! Dana likes darker roasts and AJ likes French roasts, but this is a unanimous fave. We've been brewing with our new kinto and using a lower temp for the water - no bitterness at all. We love it! Looking forward to our next shipment!
Delicious brew; extremely earthy and rich cup of joe. Would definitely buy again but excited for the next delivery
A perfectly roasted fullbodied almost syrupy cup of coffee.
This coffee not only smells good, it tastes awesome! The coffee is full of flavor and is an experience everyone should have!
Bold, dark, earthy but not dirty. Not acidic or bitter. Excellent cup of coffee.
Great tasting coffee. Very little bitterness and no complaints.
I finally am using these beans. I really like the taste!
Excellent, smooth coffee. Several family members have tried it and all gave it rave reviews. It is not bitter.
This was OK, but a bit too light. Wonderful for a Sumatra, but we usually like a slightly bolder coffee.
Not much flavor for a dark roast
An amazingly delicious cup of coffee. I went from drinking only tea to looking forward to making a cup of this. I'll definitely buy more.
Too dark of a roast
Good full bodied coffee.I prefer a little lighter roast but I liked it.
Good full bodied coffee. Used drip machine, but would make a good cold brew as well.
Loved loved loved
This one was fantastic, just a step behind the Metro French from Dillanos.
This coffee is soooo rich and velvety. We LOVE this one!
Very good. Full body. Excellent.
Now THIS is coffee! Perfect roast. Full bodied flavor. One cup will thoroughly satisfy but make you want another
I like this coffee, the smell is wonderful, but I've received it 4 times in a row an want more variety. That's why it only got 3 stars lol
A nice oily bean makes for a wonderfully deep cup of coffee. A welcome brand and varietal in my kitchen.
Much lighter than a typical dark roast. Chocolate notes and clean finish.
I loved the Dillanos Sumatra, it is very bold and makes a good strong cup without having to use a lot of ground. Definitely will consider buying again.
The coffee tastes overly bitter with most methods of brewing. My preferred way to brew this coffee is by drip with a lower water temperature. Even so, the bitterness is quite overwhelming, making it difficult to detect any other flavours.I've also tried to make a cold-brew from this coffee. The cold-brew has a very intense smoky flavour. Would work with milk but definitely not my favourite cold-brew so far.
Great for espresso my first order. Completely different taste my second batch (not as good).
