This is the Le Corbusier French Roast brought to you by Metric Coffee Co. This French Roast incorporates various Latin American coffees to create a robust body and big sweetness for fans of bolder and darker profile coffees. This coffee will satisfy folks who seek to have a rich, deep and aromatic cup of dark roasted coffee without overwhelming the palate with extremely negative roast flavors. In the cup, you will taste smoky notes of dark chocolate, caramel, and molasses.
Great coffee. Warm, deep flavor. Will happily drink this and others like it
Beans were medium brown. Very smooth body and finish with notes of cocoa, walnut, and molasses. The bag was a really cool resealing strip to keep the beans fresh.
We REALLY enjoyed this one. Was excellent as a straight espresso pull and worked fantastic in a Latte/Capp
Excellent, bold flavor, yet still smooth... A very nice cup.
Love this bean! So rich in flavor, with interesting notes and an enjoyable drink, start to finish.
Hints of caramel and molasses are strong, but delicious!
Another great one. Needs 4 tablespoons in my French Press to get it as dark as I like it, yummy and very clean tasting.
Taste was underwhelming. If your looking for a truly robust flavor, this isn't it.
Loved it, delicious. Look forward to a nice cup every evening!
very nice flavor.......thank you
Absolutely loved this one! My favorite so far. Thanks Connor!
Great French roast
Smooth and tasty
My favorite of all. STrong yet smooth
This coffee was excellent. Nice dark and bold flavor, not fruity or too acidic. I didn't want to put any milk or cream in it to dilute the natural flavor. Beans smelled great too. Perfect first cup in the morning. I would love to try more like this.
A little too mellow and sweet. But a great one to try in the press.
Ok. We love this coffee too! It's very different. We liked the first coffee better. We felt like this coffee wasn't as flavorful. We noticed more distinct notes in the other coffee. We are looking for unique coffees to try. This coffee would be more of a daily drinking coffee for us. So while we love it the first is better. We are doing Misto to expand our pallets. We go through a 12oz bag about every 5 days and misto is to find those special occasion coffees. We love everything about the service so far and have recommended it to others.
Not my flavor, tasted like any other french roast, wasnt overpowering or flavorful.
It's not espresso coffee and has no recipes for any kind. It's not what I ordered, it's not espresso coffee and I'm increasingly disappointed that an expensive espresso subscription has yet to deliver me an espresso coffee.
This is a good cup of coffee, plain and simple. It's pretty classic, nothing fancy about it; it's dark, and rich, and has a smooth, slightly tart, finish. I was hoping for a bit more complexity, but certainly the good taste and drinkability make this a good coffee.
did not love this one - not special.
Probably our favorite one so far.
Excellent, in both coffee and latte. smoky, musty, dark flavors are well balanced in coffee and come through strong in latte. my favorite so far.
Probably our favorite so far! I will definitely be purchasing this one on its own.
This was a nice coffee, a little too dark, but liked the complexity.
DELICIOUS! My favorite one yet. I loved that it was smooth and flavorful!
Mom & Pops
nice strong aroma and great flavorful cup
tasted a bit like ashes
Another disappointing coffee! There were no directions for the strength on the Metric Le Corbusier French Roast bag, and I had to experiment to try to get some flavor to the coffee. A bit of flavor, compared to the first coffee, but all of the coffee grounds were used up with two six-ounce brewings due to the amount of coffee I needed to use. Still void of real coffee flavor! I am VERY disappointed. I have never before had such bad experiences with brewing coffee, not with my regular coffees, Melitta, any coffees available in Finland, Gevalia, Starbucks…
Blends well with a good cigar, love it !! Sam does good again !!
One of the best French roasts I've ever tasted. It was very bold and the crema was dense. The taste was a little flat though and not as complex as my favorite dark roasts.
The last coffee sent was better than this one, this one I brewed extra strong but still doesn't have a rich coffee taste. This one is lighter than the previous coffee in color. This one tastes very sour compared to the previous one.
We like this coffee a lot. I reserve the 5 star rating for top coffees of all time, but this is something I will happily drink any day. It is unique in that it comes on very strong with a very mellow finish. I don't think you would be disappointed here!
Very good execution of a dark roast without the negatives that can often go with a dark roast, just like the description says.
Better than the red rooster, but a little bland. I got some chocolate notes but on the whole it was a bit muddy and i didn't really notice any nuances. I'm used to Sbux Reserve coffees, so maybe a single origin is a better bet to get more flavors? Maybe a bit more acidity would be nice without being overly sour?
Really fantastic, the chocolate flavors developed after having the beans for about a week and a half
I like French Roast but this one doesn't seem as bold as others, nor as I expected due to the description. Good, everyday coffee but not spectacular.
Great tasting French roast, not bitter tasting. A little more acidity would be perfect for me.
Extremely smokey coffee
Tasted like artificial flavors added. Flavors were overpowering and undrinkable. Whole bag thrown out
Good solid french Roast. I like that it's not too burnt or bitter, like some French roasts tend to be!
Coffee was much lighter roast than I normally purchase. Lovely smell, nice cup, but not as rich as I normally purchase. I tend towards beans very dark, very oily, that make a rich, full-bodied cup in the morning. Looking for darker beans in next shipment with change to Espresso as preference. :) This was tasty, but more an "afternoon" brew imo :). I look forward to what you next send!
Nice balance and a good smooth drink but found it a little boring. I could smell caramel, but couldn't taste it. The dark chocolate and molasses notes were faint if there at all. I think we tend to like profiles with more pronounced flavor, especially when there are notes of caramel or chocolate. Might be better for someone with a more refined palate, I am not sure.
Good, but we'd like even darker, bolder
This coffee earned 4 stars. It was definitely heavier on the palate, which I enjoy, and had a nice thick texture. The flavor was not as pronounced as I might expect from a coffee this rich on the tongue. While I could sense the undertones, I would enjoy a coffee that is equally thick, but with more pronounced flavor, especially notes of caramel or chocolate.
When I opened up this roast I immediately got the nice, fresh, and non-aggressive deep aromas with a good dose of sweetness behind it. I really enjoyed this French roast because it was deep enough without being too bold and was balanced with the sweetness. A touch of smokiness but also that didn't come out too much as it said it might but that was fine because I think if anything else was too smoky I might not have enjoyed it. I would drink this again most definitely.
Really lovely. I'm not a French roast fan, but enjoy how this one is not overly smokey.
Meh, Neither my wife and I particularly like this roast. We are not exactly coffee connoisseurs
Excellent cup of coffee when used with my Bialetti Moka. Lots of dark chocolate flavor and complexity with just enough smokiness. The molasses notes make this coffee interesting. I rate this better than the Corsica Blend from La Colombe as the overall feel and taste are richer and better balanced. I add 2% milk and 1 tsp. of turbinado sugar to my cup for reference.
This is my favorite coffee I have received from Mistobox, and may be my most favorite ever. Very smooth. Absolutely love this one!
This roast is my favorite so far! First of all, the beans are beautiful. Dark and glossy, simply stunning. The flavor, too, is so robust and striking, yet there is nothing bitter to it. Just a perfect, full-bodied coffee that I would be happy to receive again!
Good rich, earthy brew; but to my palate, this coffee is not as sharp as expected. It tastes more like a Sumatra than a French Roast. That's not a bad thing, just not as expected based on the name.
Excellent. Perfect strength and flavor for a French roast.
This one has a full body with a nice flavor without that bitter bite some french roast coffees have. It has hints of chocolate, but not overpowering. I like it very much.
This one was okay. Not really anything to write home about. It wasn't bad by any means but it wasn't anything that excited me either.
doesn't seem as rich as French roast fair trade - not a fan of the slight molasses taste
good, well balanced coffee. exactly as described
Nice bold cup, 2nd to my pref of Sonoma
Very smooth and easy to drink. Its not the most complex cup, but still enjoyable. It goes good with anything.
Not one of my favorites. I can't get by the smell of the beans.
seems to be a bit bitter for my taste. I tried using fewer beans but then lost some of the full body. Just couldn't get the ratio quite right on this one
Tasty! I could even drink it without cream, bt I do like my cream.
Decent cup but not a ton of flavors. A bit flat if you will...
This has been my favorite cup so far. It's the perfect strength and a delightful flavor.
Love this coffee
We really like the flavor of this roast. We'll keep this one on our list. Thank you!
om nom nom
Tasted slightly burnt.
A smooth coffee that makes a strong cup of coffee. These beans definitely taste like coffee.
Makes an excellent cold brew. Love the rich flavor with no bitterness/acidity.
Definitely a better coffee than the first pick. This coffee has a nice full body which is surprising for a French roast. The flavors of the bean still come through in spite of the more aggressive roast with delicious hints of molasses and dark chocolate. Just a little cream makes it come alive. This is a great coffee.
Very bold flavor however had limited under tones. Overall felt that it had 1 tone as a coffee. I was missing the little undertones. I tend to like a coffee that is a hint less bold with more flavor undertones.
Fairly deep and bold so that's good. I'd purchase again.
I seem to be giving a lot of 5 star reviews but the choices are all this good. This roast is no exception. It is delightfully dark, rich, smooth and flavorful with pronounced chocolate and caramel favors. Could drink this for another 2 weeks but excited to try the next one!
I brewed this in my Toddy, and it is fantastic. Definitely very rich as promised and no bitterness or acidity.
I'm not normally a big French Roast fan. Even though I like some dark roasts, I usually find French roasts to taste too smokey or burnt. This one was good though, with a good mix of smokiness and sweetness. Just 3 stars though because I have preferred other roasts more that I have given 4 or 5 stars to.
Excellent! Cold or hot, morning or afternoon, this has a smooth and luxurious taste. To make it even better, low acidity!
Good, but lacking in richness of flavor. Profile skews too much towards the burnt toast, caramel for my taste. Would prefer something more rich, more chocolate and spices on the palate
Overall it makes a good cup of coffee. I would say above average French Roast however nothing really special or unique. Again it was still a good cup of coffee!
good, but prefer richer deeper blend
Smooth, robust coffee.
A great coffee. Had the best caramel taste I've ever experienced in a coffee. The caramel gave it just the right amount of sweetness after the initial taste of a great French Roast.
Just excellent. Great dark roast
This was definitely a lot darker than my last coffee, and it might have been a bit of an over-correction. It smells great, but it's fairly smokey and bitter. I feel a little like Goldilocks right now, but something between this and my last selection would probably be ideal.
Smooth and smoky—probably one of my favorites from MistoBox so far
Great strong, coffee. Like an espresso roast for the French Press!
Full bodied and so flavorful, yet smooth. Love it so much!!
This coffee is just okay, but I really do not like how bitter the aftertaste is. I generally don't like French roasts, and this is no exception.
much better than first, liked the smokier notes
I have really enjoyed this coffee, truly a top tier coffee.
Excellent bold taste. Just a hint of smoke. Rich caramel flavor.
This is one of the better cups of coffee I've had as far as a French Roast goes. It was nice to have something dark and bold without the burnt flavor that often comes with a dark roast.
Having this just after getting a bag of The BEAST probably jaded me. It's good but compared The Beast it's just OK. Would I buy. Perhaps. But there are a few others I'd buy first.
I don't like this at all. I find the smoky flavor to be overpowering. My main complaint about my last coffee was that it lacked complexity. At least it was very drinkable; this just tastes like all of the flavor has been burnt away.
Wasn't a fan of this one.
smokey dark chocolate flavors are great. usually not a french roast fan, or so i told myself based on starbucks/peets overly burnt varieties...this one somehow managed to remain balanced and the low acidity is great on the mornings when breakfast doesn't manage to happen.
Great roast with the traits I'm looking for. A bit of spiciness and smokiness to rich a robust cup.
I've had French roasts before and didn't care for them, but this one was very good!
Not bad if you're a fan of really dark roast.
I found this coffee too subtle for my taste. I usually like my coffee with a splash of milk, but that seemed to mask most of the flavor with this coffee. This roast would still be preferred over a medium or light roast, but I probably wouldn't choose to buy it again.
A little oily, but otherwise standard
This one just isn't doing it for me. I normally like smoky chocolate notes, and based on Seth's notes I should love it, but I'm having a lot of trouble finding the sweet spot with this one.
Bold rich flavor. Best one so far!
I was nervous about a dark roast given what I have heard coffee snobs say about it but I really liked this one. It tasted good without my coconut milk creamer but really good with it. There was nothing "wow" or unusual about it but I could see myself drinking it regularly.
Excellent coffee; the flavors of chocolate and molasses come through, yet are subtle and not overpowering.
Really good coffee. Nice flavor and very smooth after taste.
Was a little concerned when I saw how oily the beans were ( I tend to prefer dry), but has a really nice deep, rich flavor.
Le Corbusier falls between the other two coffees I have had so far: better than the La Colombe, not quite as good as the Verve. I'm not sure I picked up on the sweetness so much, but it has a nice sharpness that is free of any unpleasant aftertaste. It smells amazing, which does positively impact the drinking experience.
The flavor was not as bold as I expected after the initial aroma when opening the bag, but a good cup of coffee nonetheless. Smells great, with notes of bitter chocolate and leather. Was hoping for a smokier taste, but the flavor was more dominated by caramel-like sweetness. Overall, a quality cup of coffee that could be enjoyed any time of day.
This roast has a sweeter taste than a typical French Roast. Upon opening the bag, I was initially hit with scents of tobacco, baker's chocolate and brown sugar. The beans are dark, but not oily. Upon brewing, I found the taste to be roasty, but very sweet. It almost had a carmelly flavor infused in the beans. While I enjoyed this coffee, I tend to prefer a more smoky, bold dark roast.
This did not have enough flavor for me.
Jackie and Nicko
we like this one - strong, taste the chocolate dark but not burnt
It's okay. I made this in a french press, and I found it a little too light, although it did taste like chocolate and caramel. Just not my favorite "morning" cup—great in the afternoon!
Not a fan of french roast.
we'd like to avoid the oily bean types - we like the drier ones - we have a jura machine and the oily beans mess it up. thanks
Like this one a lot, strong bold flavor and deep aromas. Would purchase this one again
Tastes similar to $7.99 French Roasts you can buy at the local grocery store. So taste was good, price was way too high.
Awesome French Roast!
Enjoy darker roasts. My wife really liked it. I thought it was good
Delish! Seems rich and balanced. Flavorful and deep but not burnt tasting.
Nice flavor, bolder than some of the others.
This is a gourmet blend, with layers. To get the full impact, I use more rather than less coffee per cup in my slow drip. If the brew is too thin, then the layers separate and become overpowering. By brewing a stronger cup, the layers of slightly bitter chocolate contrasting with sweet caramel dance on the palate with a fine lingering presence long after the sip.
Our favorite coffee yet. Great, rich, earthy flavor. Just the right notes of bitterness and sweetness, with an earthy finish. The caramel notes definitely come through. Both my wife and I LOVE this coffee.
Not a fan of this one. Not sure if its to bitter or too acidic maybe
This was really good. I love a French roast. Nice and dark, but not so heavy I need to make a latte out of it. Delicious
Decent cup of coffee, but not something I'll order on its own.
I really love dark coffee. This one seems to lose a bit of complexity in the dark roast. Otherwise, the one note that is here is pretty nice.
I think this is a great cup of dark roast coffee with full body and great aroma. My only negative, and reason not to buy it again, is that the beans are very oily which will ruin my built-in coffee grinder. I had to lay the beans out on a paper towel lined cookie sheet for about a week or so.and also blot them with an additional towel; not worth that effort.
ok. it had a little too much of a burnt flavour.
For whatever reason, I don't love a french roast. I love modern architecture, don't get me wrong, but this type of roast doesn't grab me. I had gotten a fair trade organic french roast from TJs as a backup coffee and had to bust it out recently and didn't love that either, so I really think it's the roast. Maybe it's better as a cold brew? I might give that a try...
Oily beans! I love oily beans!!!!
I couldn't really decipher the notes of chocolate and caramel as described, but I still enjoyed this coffee even if it was non descriptive.
Probably my favorite as far as French Roasts go which in usually not a fan of.
Michele loved this one
Deeper flavor was better experience but the actual flavor itself felt forced and not smooth
