The Sulawesi Tana Toraja was carefully roasted for you by Huckleberry Roasters. This fully washed coffee was sourced from the growing region of Tana Toraja in Sulawesi between 1,400 - 2,000 meters. This coffee breaks the mold of what we normally consider to be the Indonesian flavor profile, tasting more similar to a well produced Central American coffee, with notes of chocolate and baking spices, with a big, full body.
This coffee actually has a pretty good flavor initially. But I get an acidic (almost sour) aftertaste from it. The beans are light and less dense than other beans, resulting in a flaky grind. The roast level is great, the coffee isn’t bitter at all. For a high end coffee this is about average.
Tana Toraja better than the Onyx.
The coffee was a tad acidic and roasty.
The color of the bean was on par with what we typically enjoy.
It has an intense dark chocolate/cola aftertaste that lingers for hours and is not pleasant.
Coffee had an unpleasant grassy aftertaste. Tried adjusting grind size and was able to get some improvement by going finer (V60 used).
This coffee tastes kind of flat. It didn't leave you wanting more after you drank a sip. The flavor in your mouth after a sip was not chocolaty or delicious. It felt like a cup of coffee from your parents house.
